1. Introduction

MacrosGPT is a nutrition and fitness app with an AI coach, Mac. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who helps us process it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have.

We never sell your personal information. We never use your health data for advertising.

2. Information We Collect

Account information

• Your name or nickname, email address, and how you sign in (Apple, Google or email)
• Your username and profile photo, if you add them

Your plan and logs

• Details you give during setup and in the app: age, sex, height, weight, goal weight, activity level, goal, diet and food preferences
• Your meals and their calories and macros, weigh-ins, workouts, and your daily and weekly progress
• Progress photos, if you add them
• If you choose to tell Mac about a GLP-1 medicine: your medicine settings

Your conversations with Mac

• The messages you send and Mac's replies, reminders and timers you set, and things Mac remembers to coach you better (for example, foods you dislike or an upcoming event)
• Food photos you send are used to read your meal. They are kept on your phone and are not stored in our cloud.
• Voice input is turned into text by Apple's speech recognition on your iPhone. We don't receive or keep recordings.

Apple Health

• Only with your permission. MacrosGPT can read your steps, weight and workouts from Apple Health, and can write your meals (calories, protein, carbs and fat), weigh-ins, and workouts with their routes to Apple Health.
• Mac uses your Apple Health data in his coaching only if you turn that option on. You can turn it off in the app at any time, and change Apple Health permissions in your iPhone's Settings.

Workouts and location

• When you track a run, walk or ride on your iPhone or Apple Watch, we use your precise location to record the route, distance and pace. We save the route with that workout. We don't track your location at any other time.
• Workouts on Apple Watch use Apple's workout session, which measures heart rate and calories. We save your average and highest heart rate with the workout.

Subscriptions

• Your subscription status and purchase history. Payments are handled by Apple; we never see your card details.

App usage and device

• How the app is used: screens viewed, buttons tapped, and which features are turned on (for example, whether Apple Health is connected, yes or no). This never includes your health values, meals or messages.
• Basic device details (phone model, iOS version, app version, language), your notification settings, and the token needed to send you notifications

Support

• Messages and screenshots you send us through the app or by email

We don't collect government IDs, biometric identifiers, or payment card details.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To run the app: your plan, logs, progress, reminders, workouts, and Mac's coaching
• To personalize Mac's coaching to your goal and your history
• To manage your subscription
• To understand how the app is used and make it better
• To measure which of our ads lead to installs and subscriptions
• To answer your questions and fix problems
• To email you about your account and about getting the most out of MacrosGPT. Every email that isn't about your account has an unsubscribe link.
• To keep the app safe and prevent abuse

4. AI and Mac

MacrosGPT is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or associated with OpenAI, ChatGPT, or any other AI company. The "GPT" in "MacrosGPT" refers to the app's use of generative AI and does not imply any connection with OpenAI or its products.

Mac's features run on AI models, which may be our own or provided by outside AI service providers we choose. To answer you, the AI receives what that request needs: for example your message, a food photo you send, and the relevant parts of your profile, plan and logs. Outside providers process this on our behalf to provide the feature.

Apple Health data reaches the AI only if you turn on that option, and GLP-1 medicine details only if you allow it.

We never use Apple Health data to train AI models. We may use information with your name and contact details removed to improve MacrosGPT, including our own AI models. You can ask us to leave your data out by emailing support@macrosgpt.app.

Limitations

AI can make mistakes. It can misidentify a food, estimate calories or macros wrongly, or give advice that doesn't fit you. Check anything important. MacrosGPT does not provide medical advice; talk to your doctor before making changes to your diet, exercise or medicine.

5. Who Helps Us

We share information only with service providers that help us run MacrosGPT, and only what each one needs:

• Firebase (Google Cloud): sign-in, database, file storage, server functions, notifications, and app usage analytics
• AI service providers: to power Mac, as described in section 4
• Apple: Sign in with Apple, App Store payments, Apple Health and speech recognition on your iPhone
• Google: Sign in with Google, if you choose it
• Expo: delivers notifications to your phone
• RevenueCat: subscription management (your account ID and purchase history)
• AppsFlyer: ad measurement. It receives your account ID, basic device details, and install and purchase events, and may share those events with the ad platforms where we advertise so they can measure our ads. We don't ask iOS for permission to track you, and we don't access your device's advertising identifier.
• Food databases (FatSecret, USDA): food names only, to look up nutrition. Never your identity.
• Email providers: to deliver our emails and your support messages

Apple Health data is never shared for advertising, marketing or data mining, and never sold.

We may disclose information if the law requires it, for example to respond to a court order.

6. Data Storage & Retention

• Your account, plan, logs, conversations, photos and workouts are stored with Firebase (Google Cloud) in the United States, and kept until you delete them or delete your account.
• Food photos stay on your phone.
• When you delete your account, everything above is erased. Copies in routine backups are removed within 30 days.
• Apple keeps its own purchase records. RevenueCat, AppsFlyer and Firebase Analytics keep their own records under their policies.

7. Data Security

Your information is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. Security rules let only you read your own data from the app, and access on our side is limited to what's needed to run the service and help you.

No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure.

8. International Data Transfers

Our servers are in the United States. If you use MacrosGPT from another country, your information is transferred to and processed in the United States, with safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses where they apply.

9. Your Privacy Rights

Everyone

You can see and edit most of your information in the app, and delete your account in the app at any time. For anything else, email support@macrosgpt.app and we'll answer within 30 days.

GDPR (EU, UK)

If you are in the EU or UK, you have the right to:

• Access your data
• Correct inaccurate data
• Request deletion
• Restrict or object to processing
• Data portability
• Withdraw consent you gave (for example, for Apple Health) at any time
• File a complaint with a supervisory authority

CCPA (California)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

• Know what data is collected and how it is used
• Request deletion of your data
• Correct inaccurate data
• Opt out of the sale or sharing of your data. We don't sell your data; to opt out of ad measurement, email us.
• Non-discrimination for exercising your rights

10. Children's Privacy

MacrosGPT is intended for ages 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If we learn we have data from a child under 13, we delete it.

11. Account Deletion

You can delete your account in the app (Menu → Subscription & account → Delete account) or by emailing us. When you do:

• Your account, profile, logs, conversations, photos, workouts and username are erased from our servers
• If you signed in with Apple, we also tell Apple to disconnect MacrosGPT from your Apple Account
• Copies in routine backups are removed within 30 days
• Your subscription is managed by Apple: cancel it in your iPhone's Settings so you aren't charged again

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. We'll post the new version here with a new date, and tell you in the app or by email about important changes.
